TYLER -- The 10th-ranked Malakoff Lady Tigers opened the postseason in dominant fashion, rolling past Jefferson 55-37 in their Class 3A Region III bi-district playoff Tuesday night at Wagstaff Gymnasium.

Malakoff, the champions of 18-3A, will face Rogers in the area round later this week.

The Lady Tigers had three players finish in double figures scoring, led by Jalie Dawson's 15 points. Kamry Hurd added 12 points, while Hazel Puempel chipped in with 11.

Jefferson, which was outscored 19-6 in the opening period, was paced by Carlisha Jefferson. She knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. Jayda McCoy added 12 points in defeat.
