LINDEN -- Mason Cook and Kris Ables spearheaded a Mount Vernon rushing attack that powered the Tigers to a 49-14 rout of Linden-Kildare on Friday night.

Cook, a senior, had a huge night on both sides of the ball. He carried 17 times for 235 yards and four touchdowns and made 16 tackles rom his linebacker spot.

Ables carried 12 times for 159 yards as Mount Vernon amassed 422 rushing yards, averaging 9.4 yards per rush as a team.

Mount Vernon's defense helped the Tigers outgain Linden-Kildare 522-296.

The win pushed Mount Vernon to 2-0 entering Friday night's trip to Cooper. Linden-Kildare (1-1) visits Queen City.
