The first Division I scholarship offer arrived Tuesday night for Center 2018 ATH Jaterious Evans.

Stephen F. Austin became the first school to offer Evans (6-1, 180), he reported on Twitter.

Evans, the younger brother of 2017 Boise State signee Octavius Evans, put up solid numbers on both sides of the ball as a junior.

He finished second on the team in both receptions and yards with 28 catches for 500 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Evans recorded four interceptions.

The Roughriders finished the 2016 season 6-5 overall, falling to Bridge City, 35-28, in the first round of the Class 4A Division I playoffs.

Jaterious Evans participated in the fifth annual ETSN Combine at APEC in Tyler on May 21. He recorded a laser-timed 4.78-second time in the 40-yard dash, which was good enough for fifth-best among the 17 defensive backs in attendance.

SFA in an FCS school and member of the Southland Conference. The Lumberjacks are coached by Clint Conque, and finished last season with an overall record of 5-6.

Evans will first become eligible to sign with any program that offers him in December.
