PORTER -- Henderson senior quarterback Zane Boles rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Lions to a 36-20 win over West Columbia in their Class 4A Division I Region III area-round playoff Saturday at Texan Drive Stadium.

TYLER -- Longview got itself in an early jam and clawed back into the lead before falling just short in Saturday evening's Class 5A Division I Region II area-round playoff game. Andres Perez's 49-yard field goal attempt sailed wide left as time expired, sending Mansfield Lake Ridge to a 37-35 victory at a rain-soaked Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

LUFKIN -- On paper, a Tatum Eagles team entering the playoffs with a 5-5 record didn't seem very dangerous. Fortunately for Tatum, the game isn’t played on paper. The Eagles played a solid game defensively, took advantage of their opportunities and moved onto the third round of the playoffs with a 35-12 victory over Coldspring-Oakhurst in a Class 4A Division II Region II area-round matchup Saturda

PORTER -- The El Campo Ricebirds fell behind by 14 points but reeled off the game's next 28 to knock out defending state champion Carthage, 28-21, Friday night in their Class 4A Division I Region III area playoff at Texan Drive Stadium.

VAN -- Howe scored the most points in school playoff history and left Van Memorial Stadium with a 52-30 win against Hughes Springs. The Mustangs ended their season with an 8-4 record. LONGVIEW -- With a potential matchup ahead with a familiar rival, the Gladewater Bears could have easily looked past the Fairfield Eagles. That didn’t happen. The Bears ran right through the Eagles, pounding the ball on the ground and shutting them out in the second half on their way to a 34-16 victory in a Class 4A Division II Region II area playoff Friday night at Lobo Stadium.

LINDALE -- The Tenaha Tigers withstood a furious rally in the fourth quarter, and survived with a 40-26 win over Hubbard in their Class 2A Division II Region III area playoff Friday night at Eagle Stadium.

ROCKWALL -- Hey band, break out the Santa hats. John Tyler didn't beat Mansfield Summit into submission in Friday's Class 5A Division I area round win, but it kept the Jaguars at an arm's length and will be playing football beyond Thanksgiving after a 44-27 victory at Rockwall's Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium.
