TYLER -- Christopher Wilhelmi posted 527 total yards of offense and accounted for three touchdowns to lead the Tyler Grace Cougars to a 35-26 win over Frisco Legacy Christian on Friday night in the TAPPS Division II, District 2 opener at Clyde-Perkins Stadium.

LUFKIN -- After losses to Nacogdoches in each of the past two seasons, the Lufkin Panthers hit the field for their home opener looking to restore their dominance over the Dragons.

LONGVIEW -- Longview scored on its first three possessions and never looked back in Friday’s District 15-5A opener against Pine Tree. The Lobos tallied 21 points in the first quarter and steamrolled to a 61-6 win over the visiting Pirates at Lobo Stadium.

ELYSIAN FIELDS -- The rumors of Waskom's demise were greatly exaggerated. The defending Class 3A Division II state champion handled Elysian Fields at Jacket Stadium on Friday, 45-0. Elysian Fields was generally favored to win the two teams' District 8-3A Division II in statewide preseason publications.

GLADEWATER -- Kilgore made things much closer than they had to be. The result, though, Friday night was a finish that came down to the last play. Gladewater's Marcello Jackson was stopped at the Kilgore 2-yard-line as time expired by a host of Kilgore defensive players, allowing the Bulldogs to escape with a 35-28 win, their third straight.

Quaylan Brown's 8-yard touchdown run with 37 seconds left in the game lifted Winona to a 19-15 win over Frankston on Friday night, which was the Indians' first loss of 2015.

WILLS POINT -- Brazos Hesskew's 36-yard touchdown pass to Zach Brown with 1:02 remaining sent the Canton Eagles to their second consecutive win, 28-27, over Wills Point on Friday night.

Shamori Ivory ran for 155 yards and two touchdowns, and Hughes Springs withstood a late Spring Hill rally for a 42-35 victory Friday night.

Bullard's defense kept White Oak's vaunted offense at bay, and the Panthers handed the Roughnecks their first loss of 2015 on Friday night with a 23-20 win.
