WASKOM -- Six players scored in double figures, leading No. 21 Waskom to an 82-20 rout of New Diana on Friday night, keeping the Wildcats unbeaten in District 17-3A.

TYLER -- Judah Bell had a fantastic night for Bishop Gorman with 29 points, but Tyler Grace Community was able to hold the rest of the Crusaders team to nine total points en route to a 56-38 win in TAPPS District 2-4A. The Cougars had three players finish in double digits. Andrew Melhart led the way on the winning side with 17 points, Trevor Gunter scored 15 and Garrett Tauscher chipped in 10. Mel

LONGVIEW -- The 2014 Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Volleyball Team was  released on Dec. 24. The team was selected by Texas Sports Writers Association members based on nominations from media members and coaches from around the state. Several players from East Texas earned statewide recognition.

LONGVIEW -- Beckville has not had many problems this season, but under the big lights at Lobo Coliseum the young team found itself in early trouble. It opened the first set of Tuesday's Class 2A Region III quarterfinal game against Fruitvale down 12-5. Beckville didn't let a small issue become a giant problem though. It rallied to win the first set and the next two for a 25-21, 25-12, 25-19 sweep.
