TEXARKANA -- Mount Pleasant inched a little closer to the District 16-5A championship with its 64-52 win Friday at Texas High. It wasn't as easy as it reads. Mount Pleasant managed to close the game on a 10-2 run through the contest's final 2:17 to avoid the upset.

SULPHUR SPRINGS -- Sulphur Springs' standing room crowd was amped and ready to help their squad gain the upper hand Friday in a game between the final two unbeaten teams in District 16-5A play. Mount Pleasant just didn't give them a reason to get started in a 52-37 road win. The Tigers now stand alone at the top of the league standings.
