ANDERSON – Palestine Westwood rebounded from a sluggish first half and rolled to a 49-13 win over Anderson-Shiro in a non-district game at Owl Stadium on Friday. Westwood outscored Anderson-Shiro, 35-6, in the second half.

The District 11-3A Division I race was a two-team chase in 2014, coming down to a Week 8 showdown between state-ranked and unbeaten Teague and Malakoff to decide the district championship.

EMORY -- Garrett Walker was one batter shy of recording an abridged perfect game Friday in Van's 12-0 victory against Emory Rains. The starting pitcher earned a no-hitter instead and fanned six batters in the five-inning game.

CARTHAGE -- It took 10 innings against Rusk, but Carthage was able to clinch the District 19-4A title in a 2-1 win. It's the Lady Dogs' first league title since 2006.

CARTHAGE -- Senior pitcher Samantha Clakley pitched a shutout and the Lady Dawgs topped an always-strong Lufkin Hudson program, 5-0, in District 19-4A's Tuesday slate of games.

LONGVIEW -- Marshall needed every run, but it got the job done against Longview to get a needed District 15-5A win by a score of 5-4.
