Texas High’s Quan Hampton Commits to Texas State

The Texas High Tigers are position for their first 10-0 regular season since 2006, and one of their most important players has found a college home.

Tigers senior receiver Quan Hampton committed to Texas State, he announced via Twitter on Tuesday night.

Hampton (5-8, 165) is the second Texas High player to commit to an FCS program, joining his quarterback and North Texas pledge Cade Pearson.

The Texas High receiver also became the 19th East Texas recruit in the 2017 class to offer up his verbal commitment. Hampton is the second pledge for Texas State, which also has a verbal from Lufkin QB/ATH Kordell Rodgers.

Hampton is the leading receiver for Texas High (9-0), which finishes the regular season Friday night at home against Pine Tree. The Tigers' Class 5A bi-district playoff game has already been set, as they will face West Mesquite at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 11, at Royse City ISD Stadium.

Through nine games, Hampton has 57 receptions for 969 yards and seven touchdowns. He also has a punt return for a touchdown.

Texas State, under first-year head coach Everett Withers, is a member of the Sun Belt Conference. The Bobcats are 2-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play this season.

Hampton, like all high school football prospects currently in their senior year, will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February.
