Texas High’s Tevailance Hunt Offered By Houston

Texas High receiver Tevailance Hunt has been committed to Kansas since mid-April, but that hasn't stopped other Division I FBS programs from continuing their pursuit.

On Thursday, the Tigers' playmaker reported on Twitter that Houston became the latest school to offer him a scholarship.

Hunt (6-2, 180), in addition to Kansas and Houston, holds offers from Arkansas State, Bowling Green, Iowa State, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Nevada, North Texas, Southern Miss, and Tulsa.

Houston now has seven offers out to East Texans in the 2018 class. The Cougars have offered Hunt, Tyler Lee quarterback Chance Amie, Van offensive lineman Kris Dike, John Tyler linebacker Dekalen Goodson, Carthage running back Keaontay Ingram, Arp safety DeMarvion Overshown, and Kilgore receiver Jonathan Shepherd.

Hunt helped guide Texas High to a 10-0 regular season last year ahead of a mildly surprising loss in the bi-district round of the Class 5A Division I state playoffs to West Mesquite. He caught 36 passes for a second-best 701 yards on the team and scored 10 touchdowns through his junior season.

Texas High will a new head coach this fall as former White Oak and Flower Mound Marcus boss Gerry Stanford replaces Barry Norton, who had served as the Tigers' head coach since 1999.

Houston has been a common destination for local players in recent seasons, but any new players to the program will be signing up to play for Major Applewhite rather than Tom Herman.

Herman left the program between Houston’s regular season and the bowl game to become the next head coach at Texas. The Cougars had posted a 9-3 record and went on to lose the Las Vegas Bowl.

Hunt, like all college football prospects currently in their junior year of high school, will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in December.
