Thursday Baseball + Softball Roundup: Carthage Lady Dawgs Start Lindale Tournament On High Note + More
LINDALE -- Carthage is off to a 2-0-1 record at the Lindale Tournament and closed its day with back-to-back wins against Van and Scurry-Rosser.
Chapel Hill tied the Lady Dawgs, 2-2, in both teams' opening game.
Chelcie Pierce earned the tie for Carthage against Chapel Hill. She allowed both runs on three hits and struck out six through six innings of work.
Katlynn Earle and Carson Robertson got the RBIs for the Lady Dawgs.
Taylor Willis earned the win in a 5-2 victory against Van. She allowed eight base runners and struck out five in five innings.
Kayman Courtney and Robertson both batted 2-for-3 in the game.
Pierce earned the win in a 6-0 decision against Scurry-Rosser in the nightcap. She struck out nine while allowing two hits and a walk.
Courtney led the way offensively with two runs scored and an RBI.
Carthage will resume Lindale Tournament play Saturday.

Frankston Blasts Cross Roads
PRICE -- It was worth the wait for Frankston.
The Indians pasted Cross Roads, 19-0, in their makeshift season-opener at the Carlisle Tournament. Their first game of the season was scheduled for Monday and cancelled due to rain.
Catcher Drew Lewis recorded three hits in the win, including a first inning home run. Ryan Fitzgerald also reached base three times on hits.
Garrett Bean, Chris Cruz and Boogie Krajca each recorded two RBIs in the win.
Frankston (1-0) has a big test today. It faces Bullard Brook Hill in Carlise, a squad that advanced to the TAPPS 4A state semifinals last season.
Brook Hill defeated Hawkins in its opening game of the tournament.
Hemphill Blanks Shelbyville
HEMPHILL -- Jake Aulds threw five perfect inning and struck out 12 in the span to help Hemphill to a 6-0 victory against Shelbyville in Pinecone Classic play.
Aulds batted 2-for-3 in addition to his night on the mound.
Hemphill (2-0) will be back in action today at home as co-hosts of the Pinecone Classic alongside West Sabine.
