EUSTACE -- Bullard made quick work of Corsicana Mildred and Kerens as part of the first day of Eustace Tournament action.

The Lady Panthers opened their time at the event with a 65-21 victory against Mildred.

It was a 37-3 game at halftime. Mildred scored one free throw in the second quarter after scoring one basket in the game's first eight minutes.

Meanwhile, Lauren Zachry connected on eight 3-point attempts for all of her team-best 24 points. Sydney Foster and Hannah Lloyd reached double digits as well with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Another strong defensive second quarter helped Bullard pull away from Kerens for a 46-24 win in its afternoon contest.

The Lady Panthers held Kerens to four second-quarter points while scoring 14 points of its own to open what had been a 13-10 lead at the first buzzer.

Foster guided the team with 16 points and Lloyd rounded out the top tier with 10 points.

Bullard will be back in action today at 8 a.m. for more Eustace Tournament action.

 

Chapel Hill Wins Twice

WINONA -- The Lady Bulldogs downed Rusk and Gainesville and elevated their overall record to 10-1 on the first day of the Winona Tournament.

TyLiyah Moore led Chapel Hill through Rusk with 20 points in a 65-24 win. Mykaela Alfred and April Walker scored 16 and 10 points apiece.

Five Rusk scorers were held to seven or less points.

Chapel Hill followed that victory up with a 51-24 decision over Gainesville.

Alfred and Walker led the team in scoring with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

All of the aforementioned teams will resume Winona Tournament play today.

 

Grace Girls Split Two In Seguin

SEGUIN -- Thursday was a mixed bag for Tyler Grace Community at the Geronimo Navarro Tournament.

El Paso Americas scratched out a 45-38 win over Grace, but the East Texas team responded later in the day with a 50-16 win against Lockhart.

The middle quarters were Grace's undoing against Americas. It lost a 10-5 advantage after one period of play and faced a 33-21 deficit after the third quarter.

Addie Daughtry had a good outing. She scored a team-best 19 points, but that was cancelled out by 19 points from Americas' Samantha Nunez.

A 17-0 run through the second quarter helped Grace out to a commanding 29-6 halftime lead in the Lockhart game.

Daughtry once again the team with 21 points. Jordan Tauscher scored 12 points to reach double digits as well.
