Ton of Marijuana Found in Fake Carrots at Texas Border
Border agents reportedly discovered and confiscated more than a ton of marijuana at the Texas-Mexico border over the weekend, which has an estimated street value of approximately $500,000. The drugs were, of course, not just sitting there for all to see.
Smugglers went all in as far as creativity goes, stuffing 2,817 baggies of marijuana into carrot-shaped packages. A big rig, which was hauling a produce shipment that also contained real carrots from Mexico was tagged by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge cargo facility.
Upon further inspection, agents found pot hidden inside packages that looked like the healthy vegetable our parents made us eat growing up.
This is certainly not the first time smugglers have used this tactic to smuggle drugs into the United States and it won't be the last. This case is currently under the investigation of agents with Homeland Security Investigations.
