Tuesday Volleyball: Carthage Earns Dual Sweep + More
MARSHALL -- The Carthage Lady Dawgs took two victories Tuesday in their dual match against New Diana and Marshall.
Carthage (12-6) defeated New Diana, 23-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-18, and swept host Marshall, 25-12, 25-21, 25-12.
Matti Doffitt and Dede Pope paced Carthage against New Diana with eight kills apiece. Emily Pyle added five kills and three blocks, Carson Robertson had 17 assists, Lexi Alexander contributed eight assists, and Courtney Edge chipped in with 29 digs.
Against Marshall, Doffitt led the way with 14 kills, three blocks, and seven digs. Pope added five kills, while Edge and Laney Harkrider combined for 32 digs.
Carthage participates in the Forney ISD Tournament beginning Thursday.
Alba-Golden Outlasts Palestine
PALESTINE -- The Alba-Golden Lady Panthers earned a thrilling, five-set win over Palestine on Tuesday, 24-26, 25-15, 23-25, 25-22, 15-12.
Kenzie Chadwick led Alba-Golden (6-4) with 17 kills, two blocks, two aces, and four digs. Ginny Carson added 13 kills, six blocks, one ace, and six digs, while Hannah Ellis had 10 kills, four blocks, and three digs.
Bralee Littlejohn racked up 42 assists and seven digs, while Rheagan Wilcoxson and Lindsey Roberts combined for five aces and 16 digs.
Alba-Golden takes part in the Tyler Tournament beginning with pool play Friday.
Sabine Sweeps Kilgore
LIBERTY CITY -- The Sabine Lady Cardinals earned a 25-18, 25-20, 25-22 sweep of Kilgore on Tuesday.
Sam Bell led Sabine with six kills and eight digs. Miranda Cook and Kristen Stuart added five kills apiece, Hannah Merritt had three aces, the duo of Sarah Davis and Sierrah Richter combined for 25 assists, while Jada Carter and Hagen Dorman teamed for 15 digs.
Sabine's season resumes Thursday at the Edgewood Tournament.
Quitman Downs Chapel Hill
NEW CHAPEL HILL -- The Quitman Lady Bulldogs picked up a 25-8, 25-12, 28-26 sweep of Chapel Hill on Tuesday.
Kaci Raley led Quitman (8-1) with nine kills, three blocks, one ace, and 12 digs. Madalyn Spears added seven kills, two aces, and 12 digs, Molly Tanner had six kills, two blocks, two aces, and 18 digs, Jentri Jackson finished with six kills and seven digs, while Cammie Hicks had 27 assists to go with two kills, four aces, and three digs.
Quitman takes part in the Tyler Tournament beginning with pool play Friday.
Beckville Takes Sweep Over Troup
BECKVILLE -- The Beckville Ladycats remained unbeaten on the season with a 25-19, 25-12, 25-10 sweep of Troup on Tuesday.
Hannah Humphries sparked Beckville (8-0) with eight kills. Jordan Tondreau added seven kills, an ace, and seven digs, Payton Jones had six kills, one ace, and 13 digs, Riley Seegers finished with five kills, a block, two aces, and four digs, and Miranda Mize added four kills, one block, and one dig.
Kinley Pepper assisted on 33 points and added three kills, an ace, and seven digs, while Courtlyn Nail provided three aces and 11 digs.
Beckville's season continues at the Tyler Tournament beginning Thursday.
Emory Rains Drops Five-Setter
CRANDALL -- The Emory Rains Ladycats dropped a five-set match to Crandall on Tuesday, 16-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-12.
Shelbi Sheppard led Rains (3-7) with 13 kills, 22 assists, four blocks, and 24 digs. McKenna Hildebrandt added seven kills and 13 blocks, while Elissa Elliott and Summer Nerkowski combined for 56 digs.
Rains participates in the Forney ISD Tournament starting Thursday.
