GRAHAM -- The Tyler Grace Community Cougars committed a season-high six turnovers, and fell to Midland Christian, 49-28, in their TAPPS Division II quarterfinal Saturday evening.

Midland Christian (8-4), which has won 12 state championships since 1990, advanced to the semifinals where the Mustangs will meet Grapevine Faith Christian next week.

The Cougars, who knocked off defending state champion Fort Worth Christian last week, finished its season at 8-4.

Grace scored on its opening drive of the second half to tie the game, at 14-14, but Midland Christian scored 20 consecutive points to build a 34-14 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Cougars senior quarterback Christopher Wilhelmi passed for two touchdowns -- both to Zach West -- and ran for another to lead Grace offensively.

Grace linebacker Josh Spitzer forced a fumble and recorded an interception, while Braydon Stone and Griffin Kuykendall forced fumbles, while Garrett Tauscher and Ndukwe Uduma had recoveries.
