REDWATER -- Winnsboro edged the Dragons on the road Friday, 42-35, in a very important District 7-3A Division I game.

The Raiders moved into sole possession of second place in the league with help from other teams in the district while Redwater fell into a four-way tie for third place.

Winnsboro put up good rushing numbers in the contest. Lucas Pinnell and Ethan Rakich both scored twice. Pinnell also completed three of six passes for 59 yards.

Tedrick Shepherd kept drives alive for the Raiders. He carried the ball 11 times for 145 yards, an average of 13 yards per carry, and added another important touchdown in a game where each point mattered.

Jeremy Moses rounded out Winnsboro scorers. He had a touchdown and 39 yards on nine touches.

The Raiders (6-2, 2-1) will be back in action next week at home against league leading New Boston. A loss could throw Winnsboro into an uncertain playoff picture entering the final week, but a win could help seal first place in the district.

Redwater (3-5, 1-2) will fight for its playoff life against an equally concerned Daingerfield group.
