Chase Musgrove Accounts for Four Total Touchdowns in Atlanta’s Win Over Pleasant Grove

TEXARKANA -- Atlanta senior Chase Musgrove passed for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Rabbits past the Pleasant Grove Hawks 48-7 at Hawk Field on Friday night.
The Rabbits racked up 24 first downs to Pleasant Grove’s 5 as they spoiled the Hawk’s homecoming festivities.
Dequan Allen started the offensive onslaught for AHS with a 50-yard run to set up a 27-yard Nick Bishop field goal with 5:34 left in the first quarter.
DeVuntay Walker took a Jacob Smith screen pass 69 yards for the Hawks only TD of the evening in response to Bishop’s field goal. Dalton Hinton’s point after make it 7-3 Pleasant Grove.
Two plays later Jeremy Smith hauled in a 50-yard touchdown reception from Musgrove to put the Rabbits up for good with a 1:29 to go in the first. Bishop’s PAT made it 10-7.
Early in the second quarter Atlanta’s Eddrick King scampered around left end for a 17-yard touchdown run. Bishop added the point after, and later a 32-yard field goal to push the lead to 20-7.
After Atlanta Coach Matt McClure allowed the clock to wind down to five seconds left in the half before calling his final timeout, and Musgrove completed a Hail Mary pass to Jeremy Smith on the final play of the half. After Bishop’s kick, the Rabbits went to the dressing room ahead 27-7.
Allen got the Rabbits going in the second half with a 5-yard scoring run to stretch the lead to 34-7 with 6:35 left in the third quarter.
Musgrove punched in the next Atlanta score from the 1-yard line. Bishop added the kick to make it a 41-7 game.
With 11:07 to go in the game Musgrove rolled left and hit Clayton Hancock in the end zone from 31 yards out. Bishop capped it off at 48-7. Musgrove ended up 10 for 17 for the evening with 214 yards passing.
At 6-0, Atlanta returns home for a showdown with the Gladewater Bears next week. The 4-2 Hawks continue their home stand against Spring Hill next Friday night.
