NACOGDOCHES —The Corsicana Tigers used a dominant running game to take a 28-7 win over the Nacogdoches Dragons on Friday night at Dragon Stadium.

Six ball carries combined to rush for 318 yards and three touchdowns on 58 carries in the victory.

Tygarius Sheffield led the Tigers in yardage with 153 on 18 carries, but he never reached the end zone. Donovan Fields had 90 yards on 19 carries, including an 11-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to stretch the Corsicana lead to 21-7.

Fields' touchdown came after the first of three fourth-quarter interceptions thrown by Nacogdoches. The Dragons turned the ball over five times in the contest. One fumble lost came on the Corsicana 1-yard-line in the third quarter with Nacogdoches trying to take a lead.

Bobby Wallace did everything for the Tigers (2-5, 1-1). He rushed for 75 yards on 11 carries, threw two passes and caught two passes. Zach Rash, who accounted for both of Corsicana's first-half touchdowns for a 13-7 halftime lead, threw for 55 yards on 5-of-12 attempts.

Nacogdoches' only touchdown came on a 78-yard interception return from freshman Brandon Jones. Jones and Brian Scott provided a spark defensively for the Dragons, who were unable to find the end zone on offense despite two trips inside the 5-yard-line.

The Dragons finished with 188 yards, led by 92 yards rushing on 16 carries by sophomore Coronado Tolbert.

Nacogdoches accounted for just 69 yards through the air, which was way below their average of nearly 200 passing yards per game.

Corsicana had a big game defensively from Cedric Weaver, who recovered two Nacogdoches fumbles. Breyon Hill, Alonzo Gipson and Tenery Walker intercepted passes for the Tigers.

Nacogdoches (0-7, 0-2) will travel to 7-0 Whitehouse next week, while Corsicana will host Lindale.
