District championship implications are at stake this Friday night when Gladewater faces Atlanta in a battle of state-ranked teams in Class 4A.

The District 6-4A Division II showdown featuring the ninth-ranked Atlanta Rabbits (6-0, 1-0) and No. 10 Gladewater Bears (5-1, 1-0), set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff from Rabbit Stadium in Atlanta, is the ETSN.fm/Dairy Queen Game of the Week.

Both Gladewater and Atlanta are coming off impressive Week 7 victories. The Bears rolled to a 52-8 demolition of perennial area power Tatum, while Atlanta cruised past Pleasant Grove, 48-7, last Friday night.

These teams should be quite familiar with one another.

Gladewater and Atlanta have met three times over the last two seasons, including a second-round playoff encounter last year -- a 34-33 victory for Gladewater.

Friday's winner will have the inside track on the 6-4A Division II title.

Gladewater will be led by its dominating ground game and a punishing defensive line, anchored by senior defensive tackle and Texas A&M commit Daylon Mack, along with junior D-line mate Quanterius Turner.

Atlanta, meanwhile, is led by dual-threat quarterback Chase Musgrove and a bevy of talented backs and receivers like DeQuan Allen, Eddrick King and Jeremy Smith.

Be sure to check out the Gladewater-Atlanta game preview Thursday morning on ETSN.fm. Then, check back late Friday night or early Saturday morning for complete game coverage.
