On Wednesday, the Lions star was given the Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week honor for Class 4A.

Ward completed 29 of 32 passes for 382 yards and five touchdowns in JT's 63-14 win over Corsicana last Friday. He also ran for 70 yards and a touchdown. Four of his five TD passes occurred in the Lions' 35-point second quarter.

Other honorees included Spring Westfield running back Emmitt Raleigh for Class 5A, Stephenville quarterback Tyler Jones in 3A, Muleshoe quarterback Caleb Wood for 2A, Nueces Canyon running back/defensive back Ace Sanchez in 1A and Dallas St. Mark's quarterback John Webb for private schools.
