John Tyler junior cornerback Javontavius Mosley has picked up sixth Division I FBS offer, and fifth from his home state of Texas.

Mosley (6-1, 170) was offered by North Texas, it was announced via the John Tyler football program's official Twitter account Wednesday afternoon.

In addition to his new invitation from the Mean Green, Mosley holds offers from Houston, SMU, Texas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, and UTSA.

North Texas, which hired North Carolina assistant head coach Seth Littrell this offseason, has been active in pursuing East Texans in the 2017 recruiting cycle.

Mosley is the sixth area prospect who's been offered by UNT, joining Tyler Bishop Gorman WR Judah Bell, Liberty-Eylau DE and Texas commit Lagaryonn Carson, Henderson WR and SMU pledge Trestan Ebner, John Tyler WR and Longhorns commit Damion Miller, and John Tyler QB/ATH Bryson Smith.

North Texas competes in Conference USA and is coming off a disappointing 1-11 season in 2015, which led to the in-season dismissal of coach Dan McCarney, who had led the program since 2011.

The Mean Green is certainly no stranger to acquiring East Texas talent.

North Texas signed Corrigan-Camden LB LaDarius Hamilton in February, and currently has 10 native East Texans on its roster.

Mosley was part of a strong John Tyler secondary this past season. He recorded 60 tackles, two interceptions, broke up 12 passes and recovered a fumble in the team’s run to a Class 5A Division II area round appearance.

The secondary featured two other underclassmen in Kieran Freeman and Da’Quaylon Kennedy. Together with Mosley, they combined for eight interceptions.

John Tyler won the District 16-5A championship and posted an 8-4 overall record following an 0-3 non-district start.

And this fall, the Lions will be a member of Class 6A and compete in District 11, along with Longview, Mesquite, Mesquite Horn, North Mesquite, Rockwall, Rockwall-Heath, and Tyler Lee.

JT opens the season Aug. 27 at home against Plano West.

All high school football players currently in their junior year will become eligible to sign with any school that offers them in February, 2017.
