FORNEY -- Lancaster defeated Jacksonville, 34-2, Thursday night, knocking the Indians out of the Class 4A Division II playoffs at City Bank Stadium.

To try and slow down the high-powered Lancaster attack, the Indians went with a ball-control offense in the first half, going away from their usual spread look. It worked to a point, with Lancaster not getting as many possessions as usual in the first half, but the Jacksonville offense couldn't get much in the way of a sustained drive.

Lancaster scored with 6:49 to go in the first on a 48-yard pass from Demarcus Ayers to Nick Harvey for a 7-0 lead. Then, Harvey threw a touchdown score to Nick Alexander to close out the quarter.

Jacksonville's Darrell Minifee blocked the extra point and Londedric Taylor returned it for the conversion, making the score 13-2.

Lancaster closed out the second half with a seven-play, 61-yard touchdown drive capped by a 1-yard run from Shedrick McCoy to make the score 20-2 at the break.

Jacksonville (4-7) started the second half with the ball, but failed to convert on a fake punt. Lancaster scored on the ensuing possession, with a 3-yard run by Harvey.

Lancaster capped the scoring with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Ayers to Alexander for a 34-2 final.

Lancaster (10-1) advances to take on the winner of Friday night's Hallsville-Lucas Lovejoy matchup.
