Pine Tree football coach Derek Fitzhenry told ETSN.fm on Wednesday morning that senior receiver Victor Hawkins committed to UTEP on Tuesday.

Fitzhenry said the Pirates will soon plan a signing ceremony for the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Hawkins, who was one of PT's top playmakers in 2012.

Hawkins led Pine Tree in receptions, was second in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, and third in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. He caught 40 passes for 548 yards and four touchdowns while rushing 33 times for 354 yards and two touchdowns. Hawkins racked up 902 yards from scrimmage on 73 touches for an average of 12.4 yards per touch.

As a junior in 2011, Hawkins had 211 yards on 20 carries while playing mostly on defense, where he had 43 tackles and one interception from the secondary.
