Tyler Bishop Gorman's game Friday against Bullard Brook Hill had potential for fireworks, but few thought all the scoring in meaningful time would belong to one side.

The Crusaders moved the ball at will against the Guard's defense for 43 points in the game's first 17 minutes for a commanding lead in what was ultimately a 63-32 win in TAPPS Division II, District II competition.

TYLER -- Brook Hill would love to get the first 17 minutes of Friday's TAPPS Division II, District II game back from Bishop Gorman. It played pretty well afterward.

As it was, the Crusaders hung six touchdowns on the Guard through a quarter and a half of action and comfortably retained a share of the league lead with a 63-32 win...

Bishop Gorman's method of winning ballgames the past few years has been airing it out between a great quarterback and some explosive receivers. Then forcing a few stops on defense.

Is the party over with Michael Goodwin, that decorated quarterback, taking his talents to Trinity University in San Antonio? He reached well beyond 2,000 passing yards and 1,000 yards each of the past two seasons.

We don't think it has to be. Despite the fact eight other offensive starters graduated in May.

East Texas' major private schools league is a little different this season following TAPPS' realignment last fall. Yet different certainly does not mean weaker for the remaining teams in Division II, District II.

Frisco Legacy Christian bid adieu and was placed into District I of the division while Dallas Shelton was granted a reprieve after two very tough years and placed in Division III with smaller schools.

Two of four local teams defeated both squads last season, and only one side lost both of its games against the departing duo.

Meanwhile, TAPPS opted to throw Cedar Hill Trinity Christian into the mix. Trinity Christian only reached the Division III state championship game last season.

It looks like things are getting tougher at the top.
