Alto Football Player Cam’Ron Matthews Dies After Collapsing During Friday’s Game

ETSN.fm has learned that Alto junior football player Cam'Ron Matthews died Saturday after collapsing during the Yellowjackets' football game against Carlisle on Friday night.

Matthews, who reportedly complained of dizziness during a huddle, collapsed moments later in the closing seconds of the first half. He was then airlifted to a hospital in Tyler where he remained in critical condition.

The Alto ISD Superintendent confirmed news of Matthews' passing to KLTV.

The cause of death has not been released.

Friday's game was postponed with Alto leading, 21-7, with 12 seconds remaining until halftime.

There is no word at this time when the remainder of the game will be concluded.
