Thursday Basketball: Alto Splits Games at Tenaha Tournament

TENAHA – The Alto Yellowjackets went 1-1 on Thursday at the Tenaha Holiday Hoops Tournament.

Alto (4-7) defeated San Augustine, 60-58, before falling to Big Sandy, 93-46.

Bubba Mumphrey led Alto against San Augustine with 20 points, while Fred Thacker added 15.

Thacker had 18 points in the loss to Big Sandy.

Alto meets Sabine in tournament play on Friday.

Tatum Goes 2-0 in Tenaha

TENAHA – The Tatum Lady Eagles cruised to a pair of wins Thursday at the Tenaha Holiday Hoops Tournament.

Tatum (14-4) defeated Joaquin, 55-29, before taking down Kerens, 76-56.

Ashton Brown led Tatum against Joaquin with 16 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, three steals, and a block. Jayla Hooper added 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block.

Essence Allen led the Lady Eagles with 38 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one block against Kerens. Hooper added 15 points, 10 boards, eight assists, and a steal, while Brown finished with 13 points, six rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

Tatum plays Martin’s Mill in tournament action Friday.
