ATLANTA -- The Rabbits scored 14 unanswered points in the second half of a defensive showdown against Pleasant Grove and earned their first win within District 7-4A Division II.

Atlanta held the Hawks to 147 total yards and seven first downs through the game. Despite that, Logan Wesley opened scoring with 3:30 to play in the first half on a 1-yard dive into the end zone.

Patience paid off. Defense kept the Rabbits (5-2, 1-1) in the game and its offense put together back-to-back scoring drives before falling back.

Nick Cooper ran in the tying score from 12 yards and quarterback Layton Henson scored from 13 yards the next drive.

Henson led Atlanta, which generated 275 yards, with a net of 94 yards on 20 carries. He also threw for 20 yards as part of a 4-of-16 passing night.

Pleasant Grove (1-6, 0-2) will try to find its first district win next week while hosting Pittsburg.

Atlanta moves on to visit Gladewater.
