RED OAK -- Patrick Mahomes allowed just one hit and struck out 12, leading No. 6 Whitehouse to a 9-2 win over Red Oak on Thursday in Game 1 of their Class 4A Region II bi-district playoff series.

Mahomes was also 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored for the Wildcats. Jake Parker was 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored, Derek Clemons had two hits and two RBIs and Ryan Cheatham went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

The series resumes with Game 2 at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Whitehouse. If a third game is necessary, it will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday in Red Oak.

Sam Sitton Leads Lindale To Victory

MESQUITE -- Sam Sitton homered and picked up the victory on the mound in Lindale's 7-5 win over Mansfield Summit on Thursday in Game 1 of their Class 4A Region II bi-district playoff series.

Jon French added a double and triple at the plate for Lindale.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday from Mesquite's Tillery Field.

Lucas Lovejoy Routs Pine Tree

LONGVIEW -- Jacob Parrot went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, leading Lucas Lovejoy to an 11-2 win over Pine Tree on Thursday in Game 1 of their Class 4A Region II bi-district playoff series.

Mason Chase had three RBIs, while Tanner Devinny and Taylor Nietsch drove in two runs apiece for Lovejoy.

Logan Michaels was a force on the mound for Lovejoy as well, allowing just two runs (one earned) on four hits with 11 strikeouts in seven innings.

Chris Chadwick led Pine Tree with two hits and an RBI. Aaron Rodriguez had the other RBI for the Pirates.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Lovejoy High School.

Carthage Eases To Game 1 Win

LUFKIN -- JayDon Day pitched six solid innings and belted a three-run home run in the sixth inning to end Carthage's 13-1 win over Groesbeck in Game 1 of their Class 3A Region III bi-district playoff series.

Day allowed one unearned run on just two hits with five strikeouts and two walks on the mound.

Samuel Chhor also added a three-run homer in the third inning for Carthage, which also got hits from Kolby Blissett, Jack Morris, Beaux Guilbeau and Blake Bogenschutz.

Game 2 is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Jacksonville High School.
