HUGHES SPRINGS -- Beckville made quick work of Detroit in the two teams' Class 2A area round playoff match, 25-15, 25-14, 25-14, Thursday at Hughes Springs High School.

The Ladycats, who finished the regular season ranked No. 2 state wide in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Poll, will face Cumby in the regional quarterfinal round at a time, date and location to be coordinated between the two schools today.

Head coach Cherry Downs' club did a good job of winning offensive points against Detroit. The team earned 52 points of the 75 points it needed while on offense, including 15 of the points on aces. Detroit chipped in the remaining 23 points on various errors.

Carson Blair and Kinley Blair led Beckville with 11 total points each. Carson Blair scored eight kills and three aces while Kinley Blair walked away with seven kills and four aces.

Carley Lawhorn and Natalie Morris also recorded seven kills in the match.

Kimber Wesner served up a match-best five aces.
