Gilmer will host East Texas' biggest 7-on-7 Division II tournament Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.

Carthage, Chapel Hill, Diboll, Hemphill, Sabine, Tyler Grace, White Oak and Gilmer will compete at the Buckeyes' stadium and the programs adjacent varsity practice field with two berths for the state-wide 7-on-7 tournament on the line.

Chapel Hill and Gilmer have already clinched spots at the state tournament and will not advance beyond pool play, so other programs will have the opportunity to punch their tickets to the state contest.

Each participating team is guaranteed three games in pool play. The teams will play at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. before a lunch break concluding at 12:50 p.m.

Two teams from both pools will move on to the semifinals and the winners of the semifinal games will automatically qualify for the state tournament before going head-to-head in a championship game.

Semifinal games will be played at 1 p.m. and the championship will take place at 2 p.m. All of the knockout round games will be played inside the stadium.

The Division II 7-on-7 state tournament games will be played July 10 and July 11 at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station.
