It's been a while since the White Oak football program has entered a season with district-championship expectations. But after a tri-league title last season and a run to the second round of the playoffs, there are some lofty goals being set in White Oak for 2013.

Sure, White Oak must contend with a Tatum program its only beaten one time since 1990 and a Troup team that's steeped in rich history as well. But the Roughnecks were just a few seconds from running the table and winning the outright 9-2A Division I title last year.

White Oak took perennial power Tatum down to the wire, and handed Troup its only league loss. And the Roughnecks bring back 15 starters from last season's 9-3 group.

The 'Necks should field one of the most productive passing games in the area with the return of quarterback Dylan Gale (2,281 yards, 24 TDs) and receiver Jansen McCurdy (1,268 yards, 18 TDs). White Oak also brings back a veteran offensive line anchored by Jason Heim and Mickey McFall.

The schedule sets up pretty nice as well. White Oak has to play at Tatum, but gets Troup and Jefferson (7-3 last season) at home.
