MOUNT PLEASANT -- Behind five perfect innings from Mount Pleasant senior pitcher Michael Kopech, the Mount Pleasant Tigers rolled to a 13-0 win over Marshall on Friday night in District 14-4A action.

Kopech, an Arizona signee who is expected to be among the first high school pitchers selected in June's Major League Baseball draft, struck out 12 and walked none. The other three outs he recorded were groundouts, as Marshall failed to get a ball out of the infield off Kopech.

Mount Pleasant improved to 4-3 in district, tying Pine Tree for second, two games behind front-running Hallsville with three games remaining. Marshall, meanwhile, dropped to 2-5 in league play.

Both teams are back in action Tuesday night. Mount Pleasant is at Texas High, while Marshall entertains Pine Tree.

 

Longview Falls to Rockwall-Heath

LONGVIEW -- Rockwall-Heath remained unbeaten in District 12-5A with a 7-2 win over Longview on Friday night at Lobo Field.

Tyler Ivey allowed two unearned runs and stuck out seven in the complete-game win for the Hawks (22-6, 9-0), who are ranked No. 10 in 5A by Txhighschoolbaseball.com.

Dylan Lewis, Ryan Randle and R.J. Williams all collected two hits and drove in a run for Heath, while Kelly Dorsett finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Hawks at the plate.

Longview (10-15, 3-5), which made five errors on the night, had RBIs from Will Bradshaw and Dezmond Chumley, who was 2-for-2.

The Lobos return to action Tuesday night at Mesquite Horn.

 

Frankston Tops Arp in Extras

ARP -- The Frankston Indians earned a 4-3 win in eight innings over Arp on Friday in District 18-2A action.

The top of the eighth began with a leadoff double by Jordan Thomas, who moved to third on a bunt by Carson Chalk and scored on Caleb Whitehurst's game-winning, RBI single.

Chalk finished the game with a pair of singles, Thomas had two RBIs and Waylon Morris added a double in the win.

Thomas was the winning pitcher, allowing three runs with four strikeouts in seven innings. Morris pitched the eighth, surrendering one hit and striking out one to earn the save.

 

Carlisle Blanks Beckville

PRICE -- The Carlisle Indians stayed perfect in District 20-A with a 4-0 shutout of Beckville on Friday night, thanks to another superb pitching performance by Zach Brightwell.

Brightwell, coming off a perfect game in his last outing, allowed just one hit and stuck out 12 in seven innings to improve to 7-1 on the season. He was also 2-for-3 with two RBIs at the plate to lead Carlisle (14-3, 10-0) offensively.

Ty Baker also drove in two runs for the Indians, who broke open a one-run game with three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Both teams' seasons resume Tuesday. Carlisle, ranked No. 2 in 1A by Txhighschoolbaseball.com, plays at Harleton, while Beckville travels to Overton.

 

Bullard Brook Hill Rolls to Big Win

BULLARD -- The Bullard Brook Hill Guard kept up their winning ways in TAPPS District 4-3A with an 18-2 rout of Richardson Canyon Creek on Friday night.

Jonah Gonzales and Seth Brasher led the way at the plate for Brook Hill (13-6, 5-0). Gonzales was 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored, while Brasher doubled twice and drove in four.

Cole Cannon, Daniel Priddy, Andrew Edwards and Ryan Cox all had two RBIs for the Guard, who erupted for four runs in the first inning, five in the second and nine more in the third.

Edwards got the win on the mound, allowing two unearned runs on three hits with eight strikeouts and one walk in five innings.

Brook Hill continues its season Tuesday at home against McKinney Christian.

Carthage Edges Pollok Central

CARTHAGE -- The Carthage Lady Dawgs edged Pollok Central 1-0 on Friday in a District 20-3A clash featuring two teams ranked in state's top 13 by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.

Kacey Maines' two-out, RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh inning gave No. 12 Carthage (21-5, 7-3) the walk-off win. Maines also had a double and finished the night 3-for-4 to lead the Lady Dawgs at the plate.

Samantha Clakley earned the complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks.

Teah Reese was 2-for-3 with a double, and Marissa Snow also went 2-for-3, scoring the game-winning run on Maines' seventh-inning triple.

Carthage's season resumes Tuesday when it travels to Lufkin Hudson, while 13th-ranked Central is off Tuesday before finishing the regular season at home with Hudson next Friday.

 

Bullard Rolls Past Chapel Hill

BULLARD -- Kristi "Coco" Springer pitched a no-hitter, leading the Bullard Lady Panthers to an 11-0 victory over Chapel Hill in District 16-3A action Friday.

Springer struck out 10 without issuing a walk.

Bullard, ranked No. 20 in 3A by the TGCA, took control of the game by scoring seven runs in the second inning. Baylee Taylor led the Lady Panthers with a hit and three RBIs on the night.

The Lady Panthers' season continues Tuesday at Henderson.

 

Whitehouse Breezes Past Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE -- The Whitehouse LadyCats cruised to an 11-0 win over Jacksonville in District 16-4A action Friday night.

Whitehouse put nine runs in the first two innings to put the game away. Brooklyn Brady belted a two-run homer and Micah Gray doubled twice and had three RBIs in the first inning alone. Autumn Crymes had a run-scoring double to pace Whitehouse's second inning.

Maggie Beard got the win in the circle, allowing just one hit in 4 2/3 shutout innings. She had six strikeouts and no walks.

 

Elysian Fields Tops New Diana

ELYSIAN FIELDS -- The Elysian Fields Lady Jackets recorded a 3-1 win over New Diana on Friday in District 17-2A action.

Bailee Fry had a hit and two RBIs to lead Elysian Fields (15-12, 9-3) at the plate, while Kaycee Bailey doubled, Jacey Doyle tripled and Madison Spears picked up an RBI in the winning effort.

Keely Howard and Jane Harris combined for the win in the circle. Howard started, and allowed no runs on one hit with five strikeouts and five walks in three innings. Harris earned the win, pitching the game's final four innings, while surrendering one unearned run on three hits with three strikeouts and three walks.

Alex Flinn led New Diana at the plate by going 2-for-4 in defeat.

Both teams resume play Tuesday. Elysian Fields is at Tatum, while New Diana hosts Union Grove.

 

Alto Blows Past Wells

ALTO -- The Alto Lady Jackets continued to roll with a 16-0 rout of Wells in four innings Friday in District 21-A action.

Madison Crisp struck out 10 and did not allow a hit in her four innings in the circle.

Hanna Watson led Alto (19-3, 11-0), which is ranked No. 4 in 1A by the TGCA, with two hits and four RBIs.

Alto concludes the regular season Tuesday at Carlisle.

 

Bullard Brook Hill Rips Canyon Creek

BULLARD -- The Bullard Brook Hill Lady Guard rolled to a 12-2 win in five innings of Richardson Canyon Creek in TAPPS District 4-3A action.

Lexi Crenshaw led Brook Hill, which erupted for seven runs in the fifth inning, at the plate with two hits and three RBIs.

Taylor Schultz collected the win for the Lady Guard, allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts and two walks in three innings. Crenshaw finished the game in the circle by recording the final six outs.

Brook HIll's season resumes Tuesday at home against McKinney Christian.
