CORSICANA -- The John Tyler Lions picked up a 55-53 road win at Corsicana in District 16-5A action Friday night.

Patrick Williams led John Tyler (15-7, 2-1) with 16 points, while J'Michael Jasper finished with 12.

The Lions return to action Tuesday night at home against Jacksonville.

 

Texas High Too Much For Pine Tree

LONGVIEW -- The Texas High Tigers remained unbeaten in District 15-5A with a 63-45 rout of Pine Tree on Friday night at the Pirate Center.

Damian Willis led the way for Texas High (3-0 in 15-5A) with 20 points, while Quan Hampton added 10 points.

Pine Tree, which dropped to 0-3 in league play, was led by Kenny Jackson's eight points. Eric Hawkins added seven points in the losing effort.

Texas High plays host to Longview, while Pine Tree plays at Mount Pleasant on Tuesday.

 

Mineola Takes Down Harmony

MINEOLA -- The Mineola Yellowjackets earned a 58-42 win over Harmony in District 14-3A action Friday night.

Kourtland Sinches led Mineola (2-1 in 14-3A) with 21 points, while Raphael Ogueri added 19 points in the win.

Harmony (7-11, 0-3) was led in defeat by Spencer Seahorn, who finished with nine points. Bentley Miner chipped in with eight points.

Harmony hosts Alba-Golden, while Mineola travels to Winona on Tuesday night.

 

Laneville Crushes Apple Springs

APPLE SPRINGS -- The second-ranked Laneville Yellowjackets rolled to a 94-18 win over Apple Springs in District 28-A action on Friday night.

Laneville (14-3, 3-0) was led by Ladarius Arnett, who finished with 23 points, which included five 3-pointers. Tra Alexander added 14 points and 10 rebounds, Kendrick Anderson had 14 points, and Ty Johnson chipped in with 10 points.

Tiarel Franklin added eight points, seven assists and seven steals, while Ladarius Lewis had eight points, six boards and seven steals.

Laneville is back in action next Friday at home against Gary.

 

Tyler Grace Notches First District Win

TYLER -- The Tyler Grace Cougars notched their first victory in TAPPS District 2-4A play with a 58-56 win over Frisco Legacy Christian on Friday night.

Trevor Gunter led Grace (8-14, 1-1) with 33 points and 10 rebounds. Gunter featured red-hot shooting all night, finishing 10-of-11 from the field and 13-of-14 on free throws.

Andrew Melhart and Garrett Tauscher added 11 points apiece in the Cougars' win.

Grace returns to the court Tuesday at Dallas Shelton.

 

Slocum Downs Overton

SLOCUM -- The Slocum Mustangs earned a 59-42 win over Overton on Friday in non-district boys basketball competition.

Parker Wilson sparked Slocum (11-8) with 22 points, while Ethan Becton and Taylor Hunt finished with 10 points apiece.

Slocum returns to the court Tuesday at Iola.

No. 11 John Tyler Blows Past Corsicana

CORSICANA -- The 11th-ranked John Tyler Lady Lions remained unbeaten in District 16-5A with a 66-36 rout of Corsicana on Friday night.

Amia Wickware led the way for John Tyler (22-3, 4-0) with 24 points.

John Tyler returns to action Tuesday at home against Jacksonville.

 

No. 21 Longview Eases Past Marshall

MARSHALL -- The 21st-ranked Longview Lady Lobos took a 51-30 win over Marshall on Friday in District 15-5A action.

Ravan Chisum led Longview (20-1, 5-0) with 16 points, seven rebounds, five assists and eight steals. Kiara Ross and Mikayla Smith added eight points apiece in the win.

Longview plays host to Texas High on Tuesday.

 

No. 12 Bullard Wins League Opener

BULLARD -- The 12th-ranked Bullard Lady Panthers picked up a 58-28 win over Gladewater in their District 16-4A opener on Friday night.

Lexi Kirgan led Bullard (21-5, 1-0) with 20 points, while DeAnna Howard finished with 13 points.

Both teams are back in action Tuesday night. Bullard is at Gilmer, while Gladewater travels to Spring Hill.

 

Shelbyville Defeats Beckville

SHELBYVILLE -- The Shelbyville Lady Dragons scored a 30-24 win over Beckville in District 22-2A action Friday.

Beckville was led in defeat by Kimber Wesner, who finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

Beckville plays host to Martinsville on Tuesday.
