LONGVIEW -- Whitehouse and Pine Tree got a little extra playing experience in the season-opener Friday at the Pirate Center.

The Wildcats outlasted the Pirates in three overtimes for a 92-87 road win.

Colby Duhon scored a team-best 26 points for Whitehouse (1-0). Javier Neal, Zach Parker and Jackson Mahomes also hit double digits in the victory.

Pine Tree (0-1) will try to get its first win of the campaign Tuesday against cross-town rival Longview.

Whitehouse will be back in action Wednesday as part of the TABO Classic field. Its first game of the tournament comes against Center.

 

Slocum Doubles Up Douglass

ELKHART -- Slocum held all five of Douglass' scorers to six or less points in a 48-20 win in the Slocum Tournament.

Alex Moldonado and Taylor Hunt reached double digits for the winning side with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Jacob Lane finished third on the scoresheet with eight points.

Slocum (4-1) and Douglass (0-5) wrap up Slocum Tournament play today.

 

Bishop Gorman Comes Back To Beat Bullard

TYLER -- A 20-point fourth quarter propelled Tyler Bishop Gorman to a 43-39 opening win against Bullard.

The Panthers led the contest, 25-23, through three quarters of play.

Despite the loss, the Panthers showed some depth. Ten players scored in the game, headlined by eight points from Austin Turgeau.

Bullard (0-1) will try to bounce back next Friday when it hosts Tyler All Saints.

Gorman (1-0) takes on Van next Friday.

Bullard Beats Hosts

SALTILLO -- Bullard defeated Saltillo in the Saltillo Tournament by a score of 54-30.

Sydney Foster led the Lady Panthers with 18 points. Allie Kirgan and Abby Story scored 16 and 11 points, respectively.

Jordan Sustaire netted 11 points for Saltillo in the loss.

Bullard will resume Saltillo Tournament today with an opening game against Quinlan Ford.
