Friday Girls Basketball Roundup: Winona Handles Rusk + Grace Community Tops Douglass

WINONA -- Nichole Garrett paced Winona with 24 points and seven rebounds in a 55-36 win against Rusk.

Garrett wasn't the only player with big numbers for the Lady Wildcats (3-0) though.

Lexi Lacy put up 15 points and Mallori Shacklett rounded out the top three for Winona with nine points. Lacy also recorded seven steals and four assists through the game.

Winona will be off during the week of Thanksgiving and resumes play Dec. 1 against Tyler All Saints.

The Daughtrys Help Grace Past Douglass

SLOCUM -- Addie Daughtry and Parker Daughtry combined for 34 points Friday in Tyler Grace Community's 46-33 win against Douglass in Slocum's tournament.

Addie Daughtry scored a team-best 24 points. Parker Daughtry added a team second-best 13 points.

The Lady Cougars led 13-11 after the first quarter, but they extended their lead to 31-18 at halftime and were able to cruise from there.

Grace (6-0) will be back in action today at noon against Malakoff in the tournament's silver bracket championship game.
