HENDERSON – The Henderson Lions put a 41-12 whooping on the Rusk Eagles on Friday night.

Two quick Rusk turnovers on the first two possessions aided Lions points, falling behind 17-0 with seven-minutes off the clock.

Nine plays and a one-yard touchdown from Kevin Fuller started the scoring from the get-go. Later, a bad punt snap was recovered by Lions running back Eli Jones, who scored one play later from the 2-yard line, followed up by an Axel Romero 21-yard field goal, after the second Eagle miscue.

Henderson continued to roll in the second period, as Caleb Medford made a great catch off a Sevastian Deleon pass at the Eagle 28-yard line and raced in untouched 68 yards for a 23-0 Lion advantage.

Henderson held a 287-111 lead in total yards at intermission.

Henderson receiver Caleb Medford hauled in a 68-yard touchdown pass from Sevastian Deleon, for another touchdown and Fields scored another one-yard touchdown for a 36-0, halftime count.

Rusk got a 2-yard run from quarterback Jaylon Hall, and Semaj Johnson caught a 29-yard scoring strike from Hall to account for the Eagle points.

A blocked punt in the Rusk end zone and a 30-yard field goal from Salvador Bazaldua capped off the scoring in the game.

Deleon threw for 147 yards, and two touchdowns, while Fuller ran for 125 yards and two scores on 18 carries.

Hall was good on 8-of-16 for 156 yards, one touchdown and one interceptions.

The Lions (1-3), will enjoy an open week before a home opening 10-4A, Division I contest against Palestine, Oct. 12, at Lions Stadium. Rusk (1-3), plays host to Pittsburg, in non-league play next week, before 7-4A D-II league play begins in Rusk with Bullard on Oct. 19.
