ROWLETT -- Emory Rains, a Class 4A program, got a big win against Dallas Skyline ahead of losses to Mesquite Poteet and host Rowlett at Rowlett's volleyball tournament Friday.

The Lady Cats finished pool play with a 1-2 record and await their first pairing in Saturday's tournament action.

Rains (3-2) topped Skyline, a Class 6A school, by a score of 25-16, 25-7.

Charlotte Bradshaw led the team in scoring with 10 kills.

Next up was Poteet from Class 5A. The Lady Cats won the first set of the three-set match, but ultimately lost 20-25, 27-25, 25-20.

Bradshaw's 20 points on 16 kills and four blocks led Rains. Shelbi Sheppard recorded 23 assists.

Rowlett, another 6A school, defeated Rains 22-25, 25-18, 25-14.

Bradshaw scored a team-best 16 points on kills. Sheppard dished out 27 assists.

Rains Downs Texas High In Five Sets

SACHSE -- Emory Rains earned a big neutral-site win against Class 5A opponent Texas High by a score of 22-25, 25-23, 25-18, 22-25, 15-7.

Setter Shelbi Shepperd had a huge match and at least partial responsibility for 49 Lady Cats points scored in the match. She recorded 41 assists, aced five serves and scored another three points on blocks.

Charlotte Bradshaw led the team in scoring. She scored 24 points on kills.

 

Beckville Falls To Summer Creek, Pine Tree In Longview Tournament

LONGVIEW -- Beckville had a tough Thursday at the Longview Tournament against much larger schools.

The Ladycats (1-2) from Class 3A dropped a 25-18, 25-14 decision to Houston Summer Creek of Class 6A to open its time at the tournament.

Beckville only scored 14 points in the two-set match on offense. The other 18 points came off Summer Creek errors.

Pine Tree from Class 5A then defeated Beckville 25-16, 25-24.

The Ladycats offense generated 18 of its 30 points.
