There is certainly no love lost between Harrison County rivals Waskom and Elysian Fields. The schools are separated by just 10 miles, and now that both programs are regarded as district front-runners, that only adds fuel to the fire.

This Friday's meeting is not only the latest installment; it just happens to the District 8-3A Division II opener, featuring the Nos. 2 and 3 teams in the latest ETSN.fm East Texas Class 3A poll.

With so much potentially at stake, Waskom-Elysian Fields has officially been designated as the ETSN.fm + Dairy Queen Game of the Week. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. from Jacket Stadium.

Waskom's recent success, which includes the 2014 Class 3A Division II state championship, has been well-documented. Meanwhile, Elysian Fields is trying to re-capture its form from the Yellowjackets' 2012 trip to the state semifinals.

Through three games, Waskom (3-0) has looked like a legitimate contender for its second consecutive state title. The Wildcats averaged 40.7 points in wins over Center, Paul Pewitt, and Hughes Springs.

Elysian Fields (2-1) stumbled in a 42-24 season-opening loss to defending 3A Division I state finalist Mineola, but has rebounded with wins over Jefferson (19-7) and West Sabine (50-44).

Be sure to check out the Waskom-Elysian Fields game preview Wednesday morning on ETSN.fm, follow our own Mike Graham (@Mike_ETSN) for updates throughout the game, and head back to ETSN.fm late Friday night or early Saturday morning for complete game coverage.
