A pair of East Texas teams climbed into the top 10 in this week's Associated Press Class 4A poll.

Gladewater (4-1) and Atlanta (5-0) debuted at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively, as both get set for their District 6-4A Division II openers this week. Gladewater hosts Tatum, while Atlanta visits Pleasant Grove on Friday night.

Gilmer (5-0) held steady at No. 3, while Van (5-0) moved up one spot to No. 8. Gilmer travels to Melissa in the Buckeyes' 5-4A Division II opener, while Van plays host to Athens to begin 8-4A Division I this week.

In 5A, John Tyler (4-1) remained at No. 5 after its 76-13 rout of Lindale last week. Lufkin (3-2) dropped one spot to No. 10 despite a 52-45 home win over Whitehouse. John Tyler hosts Lufkin on Friday night in a huge District 16-5A battle.

Longview (3-2) is receiving votes.

Everything remained the same for East Texas in the 3A rankings. Corrigan-Camden (5-0), a 64-35 winner over Diboll, is No. 4, Malakoff (5-0), which was off, is No. 8, and Waskom (4-1), which rolled to a 63-35 win over Frankston, is still ninth.

Corrigan-Camden hosts Crockett, Malakoff is home against Palestine Westwood, and Waskom plays host to Arp this Friday night.

Arp (4-0) and Newton (2-3) each received votes.

Alto is the area's lone ranked team in Class 2A, holding steady at No. 9. The Yellow Jackets (4-0) play at Grapeland in the 11-2A Division I opener this Friday night.

Tenaha (3-1) and Shelbyville (4-0) are receiving votes.
