HENDERSON -- The Lions held Pine Tree off the board until inside the game's final five minutes and cruised to a 41-7 win Friday.

Just like last week against Pittsburg, Henderson scored on its first play from scrimmage. Matthew Childers connected with Trestan Ebner, a TCU verbal commitment, for a 50-yard touchdown and a 6-0 lead.

Childers and Ebner reconnected moments later for what ultimately was the game-winning score. Running back Lakedrick VanZandt, another TCU commit, ran in the two-point conversion.

VanZandt ran in the next two Henderson touchdowns for a 28-0 lead before halftime.

Trae Hall gave Childers a receiving touchdown in the second half and the Lions (4-0) turned to backups.

Trey Williams scored for Pine Tree (0-4) with 4:28 left to play.

The Pirates will host Sulphur Springs next week as District 16-5A competition gets underway. Henderson will begin District 9-4A Division I play at home against Chapel Hill.
