JACKSONVILLE -- Jacksonville's Dadrian Thacker scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and scored on a fumble recovery as the Indians made their Class 5A debut with a 62-37 win against Pine Tree at the Tomato Bowl.

Jacksonville scored 49 points in the first half behind a pair of passing touchdowns from senior quarterback Carter McCown, including a 75-yard catch-and-run to Braylon Parrish. Parrish, who also carried eight times for 58 yards, scored on a 28-yard touchdown run.

Pine Tree quarterback Mason Hays threw five touchdowns as part of a 209-yard night, including four to receiver Jonathan Giddings, who finished with 122 yards on nine catches.

Pirates running back Marquayvin Ward rushed for 183 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries on a night when the teams combined for 949 yards of offense.

Pine Tree (0-1) turned the ball over four times in the first half which Jacksonville turned into 21 points en route to a 49-19 halftime lead. The Indians, who hadn't won a game since November 2012, scored on all six first-half possessions and added another score on Thacker's 47-yard fumble recovery.

Jacksonville (1-0) plays host to Palestine next week.
