TENAHA -- Alto quarterback Kennen Johnson rushed for 305 yards and accounted for seven touchdowns in leading the Yellow Jackets to a 72-21 win over No. 3 Tenaha on Friday night.

Johnson scored five rushing touchdowns and threw for two more in helping Alto to a 4-0 start to the season.

Alto finished with 653 yards offense, while limiting Tenaha to 193 yards.

Alto led 37-0 at halftime. The 'Jackets held a 7-0 lead after the first quarter quarter on a 6-yard run by Johnson, but a 30-point second quarter turned the game into a rout.

Johnson scored on runs of 24 and 33 yards and threw touchdown passes of 61 yards to L’Darius Pope and 43 yards to David Berryman, while Jose Perez added a 37-yard field goal in the second-quarter onslaught.

Tenaha scored its first touchdown on a 1-yard run by T.J. Thomas in the third quarter.

Cobe Caraway led the Tigers (3-1) with 135 yards on 14 carries, including a 66-yard touchdown run. He returned a kickoff 82 yards for a score.

Jyran Shaw rushed for 153 yards on seven carries with a score for the visiting Yellow Jackets.

Both teams are off next week. Alto begins District 11-2A Division I play Oct. 10 at Grapeland, while Tenaha opens 11-2A D-II action the same night at Maud.
