There were a few changes in this week's Associated Press high school football rankings as it pertains to East Texas.

In Class 5A, Longview entered the top 10 at No. 9 following its thrilling 21-20 season-opening victory over rival Lufkin, which dropped out of the poll. John Tyler fell out of the top 10 as well after a 35-17 setback to Plano.

Gladewater debuted in the 4A poll, tied for ninth with Stephenville. The Bears began the year with a 56-20 rout of Daingerfield. Gilmer remained at No. 3 following its 50-45 victory over Liberty-Eylau.

Liberty-Eylau, Carthage, Jasper, Henderson, and Van all received votes.

In 3A, Mineola held steady at No. 2 following a 42-24 win over Elysian Fields, while Newton jumped up one spot to No. 3 after its 37-28 defeat of Tatum. Waskom, Arp, Elysian Fields, and Malakoff are all receiving votes.

Alto moved up a spot, tied for No. 8 with Mart, following an impressive 60-33 rout of Crockett. Tenaha, Carlisle, and Shelbyville received votes.
