HALLSVILLE -- The Hallsville Bobcats clinched a playoff berth with a 56-35 victory over Mount Pleasant on Friday night at Bobcat Stadium.

Hallsville (6-3, 3-1 in District 14-4A) rebounded from last week's loss to Sulphur Springs tough loss by producing four interceptions, six sacks and a blocked PAT to complement 589 offensive yards.

Senior quarterback Macailyn Wilder accounted for 176 yards on 22 carries with three touchdowns on the ground and was 9-of-11 for 229 yards and another trio of touchdowns through the air.

Khalil Sneed put up impressive numbers as well, running the ball 19 times for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Jamil Young led Hallsville's receiving corps with four receptions for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while Jacob Taylor added three receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Dexter Ward and Dwayne Johnson each recorded two sacks on defense, while Dagan Hatfield and David Jackson had one sack apiece.

Mount Pleasant quarterback Cullen Grubbs was 16-of-32 for 311 yards and a touchdown passing, adding another score on the ground. Baylor commit KD Cannon starred on both sides of the ball, finishing with 10 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown on offense and an interception, four tackles and a pass break-up on defense. Andrew Flanagan, who lined up at both receiver and running back, rushed for two touchdowns.

Hallsville broke a 14-14 tie with 27 seconds remaining in the opening half on a 25-yard touchdown run and put the Bobcats up 28-14 with a 13-yard run early in the third quarter. And Sneed's 45-yard touchdown run in the fourth gave Hallsville a 49-28 lead and effectively put the game out of reach.

The Bobcats close out the regular season next Friday night at district-leading Texas High, while Mount Pleasant hosts Pine Tree.
