HALLSVILLE —The Nacogdoches Dragons collected a huge road win with a 31-13 defeat of Hallsville in District 9-5A Division II play Friday night.

The Dragons (4-5, 3-3) got the night started by scoring on four of their first five possessions, taking a 28-6 lead into halftime.

Hallsville (4-5, 1-5) was able to put it the end zone in the third quarter on a 42-yard touchdown run by Cortland Venters, but it was the Bobcats' last points of the night.

Nacogdoches quarterback Jake Smith finished finished the night 15 of 21 through the air for 122 yards. The Dragons had a total of 400 yards of offense with 26 first downs.

Both teams return to action next week with Nacogdoches at home against Mount Pleasant (3-6, 1-5), while Hallsville goes on the road to face Whitehouse (6-3, 4-2).
