Mart Pulls Away in Second Half to Eliminate San Augustine from Class 2A Playoffs

PALESTINE -- De'Narian Thomas scored three touchdowns and Mart used a big second half to take down San Augustine 49-21 in a Class 2A Region III semifinal game Friday night at Wildcat Stadium.

Mart (11-2) face sAlto (11-2) in the regional final at 7:30 p.m. Friday (Dec. 7) at Bruce Field in Athens.

Thomas opened the second half with a touchdown after the teams entered the intermission tied 14-14 following San Augustine QB Bobby Tanner's 85-yard touchdown run.

Thomas also blocked and returned a punt for a touchdown that stretched Mart's lead to 35-14, and San Augustine couldn't recover.

The Wolves finished their 2012 season with a 9-3 record.
