TEXARKANA -- New Boston rushed for 343 yards and broke off the long touchdowns runs it needed in the third quarter to put away a stubborn Pleasant Grove, 37-7, Friday at Hawk Stadium.

Holding a 14-0 lead at halftime, Quinn Dedmon raced 45 yards to paydirt with 8:35 left in the third quarter, and sophomore Davontae Wade had a 49-yard TD to help the Lions (2-0) go up 27-0 near the end of the third.

The Hawks (0-2) got on the scoreboard on the ensuing kickoff, Kentrun Pemberton-Haley taking the kick back 74 yards down the left sideline after fielding the ball off a bounce.

T. Q. Dedmon had a 13-yard scoring run, set up by Dedric Draggoo’s fumble recovery of a muffed punt by Pleasant Grove, which limited the Lions’ big-play ability in the first half.

Aaron Conkleton’s quarterback sneak following Wes Teague’s 25-yard interception return to the PG 6 came with 10:45 left in the first half. On the Lions’ ensuing possession, after forcing a punt, New Boston had 10 rush play calls and just one pass.

Keith Baldwin ran in from the 5 to cap the 92-yard drive.

Cole Pace added a 36-yard field goal with 2:16 left in the game.

Quinn Dedmon finished with 141 yards rushing on 14 carries, and Wade added 109 on nine totes.
