GILMER -- The second-ranked Gilmer Buckeyes experienced little resistance through three games, but found themselves challenged by Daingerfield on Saturday afternoon.

Clinging to a five-point in the third quarter, Gilmer went on a 29-7 run the rest of the way to put away Daingerfield, 54-27, at Buckeye Stadium in a game that was pushed back after heavy rains Friday.

Senior quarterback Tanner Barr completed 9 of 17 passes for 234 yards, which included an 84-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver and Texas State commit Devondrick Dixon.

Kris Boyd rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns on 11 attempts, while Jamel Jackson and Chase Tate also found the end zone on the ground for the Buckeyes, who put up 397 total yards of offense.

Gilmer (4-0) begins District 16-3A play Friday at home against arch-rival Gladewater, while Daingerfield (1-3) plays at Redwater on Friday in the 8-2A Division I opener.
