TEXARKANA -- Former Pleasant Grove offensive coordinator Todd Elliot’s return to Hawk Field in Texarkana as the head coach of Linden-Kildare was spoiled, as PG ran roughshod over his Tigers 41–8.

The Hawks' Wing-T offense exploded for 426 yards and six touchdown, while their defense held the Tigers to only 116 total yards and eight first downs on the night.

Junior quarterback Jacob Smith threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns on 6 of 9 passing for Pleasant Grove.  He also scored twice on 1-yard runs.

Smith’s big evening got going on the Hawks' initial score -- a 39-yard TD completion to sophomore Jackson Pace with 3:37 left in the first quarter. Dalton Hinton punched through the point after to make it 7–0.

Montrelle Warren returned the ensuing kickoff 56 yards to set up a five-play, 38-yard scoring drive that put the Tigers up 8–7 with 53 seconds left in the first quarter. Airion Brooks scored the touchdown on a 1-yard run.

With 8:49 to go before half, Ty Everett put the Hawks up for good on a 15-yard sweep around left end for six. Hinton’s PAT finished up the 10-play 67, yard-drive.

Tyler Shelton and Connor Lemmerhirt both had long receptions on a late drive as Smith punched in the score to give the Hawks a 21–8 halftime lead.

The Hawks received the second-half kickoff and promptly went on a 60-yard scoring drive, highlighted by DeVuntay Walker’s 55-yard run that set up Smith’s second short TD plunge. The Hawks failed on a two-point conversion to make the score 27–8.

Lemmerhirt’s 30-yard reception from Smith and Hatfield’s fourth-down, 40-yard catch-and-run on a screen pass for a touchdown highlighted a drive that ended on the last play of the third quarter.  Hinton’s PAT gave the Hawks 34–8 lead heading into the fourth.

Hawks reserves finished off the evening’s scoring as Keshawn Jones scampered in from 6 yards out with 3:05 remaining. Hinton’s fifth point after made the final 41–8.

Walker led all rushers with 104 yards on 11 carries.  Everett added another 91 yards on eight rushes for PG.

Pleasant Grove (2-1) travels to Quinlan next Friday night to take on the Quinlan Ford Panthers. L-K dropped to 0-3 on the season.
