Troup head football coach Dennis Alexander has been suspended indefinitely for allegedly making contact with a player, according to sports broadcaster David Smoak.

Smoak reported Thursday on his website that Alexander was accused of contacting a player on the back of his head during a pregame speech.

Smoak added that he spoke to the legendary coach, and Alexander denied the allegations. He said the investigation will continue with a decision possibly coming down next week.

Alexander is one of the most successful coaches in Texas high school football history, and is famously known for coaching the 1983 Daingerfield Tigers, largely considered the best high school team in the state's history.
